A few weeks ago I responded to a post on the Creswick Market Facebook page, regarding their need for a photographer. I had been looking at ways to get more involved with the surrounding communities and thought it was the perfect opportunity. After receiving a call from head organizer Trevor Miller, I was invited to come along and capture some images, nothing formal, I just simply came along with my wife Kyrstie, and 3 year old daughter Ellissa, to just enjoy the morning and took a few snaps.
The bitter chill of winter was definitely upon us that morning, with a maximum temperature of 10 degrees along with some light rain having been forecasted for the day. With a crowd of warm smiles dressed in earmuffs, gloves and winter coats, you could just about forget the muddy freezing surrounding. The dark and gloomy weather hadn't taken away from the fun community feeling at all, with live music, tasty treats and colorfully face-painted children, including Ellissa, making the morning very enjoyable. If the winter weather got too much, there were also stalls set up inside the old community hall.
Part of the music line-up was jazz and blues performer Geoffrey Williams, who has written for the likes of Michael Jackson and Dusty Springfield, and sounded amazing.
It is definitely a great family day to be had and happens once a month in the beautiful forest surrounding withing the small town of Creswick. I will definitely be going back, not just to take snaps, but to bring home goodies from the array of stalls with local crafts and products. If you are ever near Creswick on the third Saturday of the month, you should go and enjoy what the best of small community has to offer, and you will more than likely, see me there with my family.
